H3 was created as an offshoot of the successfull effort to harness the power of volunteers to grow healthy produce for those struggling with food insecurity. Sometimes it is thought that any food is preferable to none but often we see that ultraprocessed foods and sugary foods and drinks actually make our patients overweight Hypertensive and struggle with diabetes. This is when helping can actually hurt. Changing the food supply to offer fresh produce is making a difference and H3 can hopefully continue to harness the power of volunteers to help provide healthy options for our neighbors.
