Active members identify local nonprofit groups that will benefit from our donation pool. Organizations currently available for consideration are listed below. Members have suggested these groups and are willing to make a presentation at our next meeting for a vote.
Helps individuals dealing with mental illness and substance abuse find resources and services in Beaufort County and Jasper County, SC. Mental Health America of Beaufort-Jasper (MHABJ) and the Island House promotes education and awareness of mental health issues in the community.

VIM’s mission is to understand and serve the health and wellness needs of the medically underserved and their households, who live or work on Hilton Head and Daufuskie Islands.
VIM’s goal is to expand on food sustainability to compliment the medical dental and pharmacologic care delivered at Volunteers in Medicine.

The nurse retention program focuses on attracting and retaining nurses in Beaufort County and Jasper Counties who graduate from our local nursing schools at TCL and USCB. It is financial aid, post graduation in return for working in our local communities.

Hilton Head Island’s Sandalwood food pantry is currently experiencing huge crowds (~100 families) each Tuesday, which is up to three times the number of clients served pre-pandemic. This large increase in clients is caused by a “perfect storm” of events: 1) lingering unemployment due to COVID; 2) end of additional unemployment benefits for those without jobs; 3) large increase in the cost of food (especially meat, fish, fruits & vegetables, dairy, and diapers) due to inflation; 4) additional increase in cost of food due to supply chain issues; and 5) large increase in the cost of gasoline and heating fuel. Sandalwood’s clients are facing a crisis in terms of affording basic food and also hygiene items (e.g., baby diapers and wipes) for their families. 100 Men Who Care funds would be used by Sandalwood to purchase additional food and hygiene items that are critical to addressing the food insecurity and basic hygiene issues faced by these families in crisis.

Full Spectrum Studio is nominated for consideration by our group. Full Spectrum provides a studio and art Center for lowcountry artist with disabilities.
Ted Weitzner and David Martin work with and have nominated the HHHS Booster club. The Booster Club recognizes that participation in high school athletics benefits everyone, and the Booster Club promotes opportunities to build spirit and strengthen relationships among all involved: the student body, Hilton Head Island High School staff, parents and the community.
